Online Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Diverse Populations and Age Groups Concentration

The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) Diverse Populations and Age Groups concentration is designed to help you better understand the interrelated dimensions that influence health and wellness in diverse age groups and populations. You can select from a wide range of courses that view these concepts from different perspectives. You also have the ability to focus on specific populations or age groups. You will benefit from this concentration if you are a health care and community service professional or work in a related field.

Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degrees are designed with the working professional in mind. If you have an Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences (AAS) with a technical or vocational major from a Council for Higher Education (CHEA)-recognized organization, you can apply the education experience you already have toward a bachelor’s degree. An applied arts and sciences major's time frame for degree completion varies with the individual student, but in general, the BAAS degree can be attained in two years.

Do I Qualify for This BAAS Program?

Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Diverse Populations and Age Groups Concentration will help you use your prior academic experience to complete your bachelor's degree.

You can enter our BAAS Program to earn your bachelor's degree if you are working on your first bachelor's and have at least one of the following:

1. Have an Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree from an institution with accreditation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
2. Have earned a significant number of credit hours in a career-technical related discipline from an institution with accreditation recognized by the CHEA

Online Learning Format for Diverse Populations and Age Groups Concentration

Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) concentration in Diverse Populations and Age Groups is designed to be completed 100% online, with students completing assignments, readings, tests, and projects throughout the semester. Recorded lectures via Mediasite will connect you with professors and other students on your own time. Student participation, using Mediasite and Blackboard, related to recorded lectures is done on your own schedule, rather than during a specific time. The exception to this is social work courses, which may be delivered live on Mediasite. If you take a social work course with this format you will be expected to watch and participate live, just like the other students in the course.

This means we help you schedule the right courses at the right time to help you take the next step in your professional career. Faculty members are specialists in their areas of advising and are current with requirements for admission into the programs they advise so you get the academic advice you need, when you need it.

Academic Help and Resources for Diverse Populations and Age Groups

At ENMU we want to make sure you get the help you need. We offer several tutoring services, including the Online Writing Center (OWL), which is only for distance education students. The OWL is available to help you improve your writing and help you clearly communicate for written, school related projects and assignments. We also have online databases, journal articles and eBooks accessible through the Golden Student Success Center. Since ENMU has a dedicated distance education librarian on staff, you’ll always have the help you need to take advantage of library resources.

When you receive a BAAS degree with a Criminal Justice and Sociology concentration, you can look forward to an enhanced career in your field. BAAS Concentration: Diverse Populations and Age Groups

The BAAS program requires you to complete 120 hours to earn your bachelor's degree. Within those 120 hours, you must complete a primary concentration and a secondary concentration.

As a secondary concentration, Diverse Populations and Age Groups requires 31 hours of coursework and includes the following courses:
