Mug with cake
Shaylee Moon, an ENMU student, shares her favorite snack recipes.

Having midnight cravings? We've all been there. It is always a good idea to have snacks to keep you going during studying and homework, but it can be hard to eat anything other than chips and candy when you live in the dorm. Even if you live off-campus, feeling motivated to cook for hours is not easy. That's why I made a list of fun recipes that can be made in minutes. Get ready to utilize your dorm building's microwave!

Chocolate Chip Granola Bars

You can make these delicious granola bars in the microwave then store them to eat as a snack while studying or on your way to class.

Mexican Corn

I crave Mexican corn regularly but grilling it takes time and effort. Use this recipe to get a close substitution with hardly any of the work.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Chocolate Chip Cookie

Yum… I make this one quite often. It's the perfect serving for one person without spending hours baking a batch of cookies. Don't forget to top it with some vanilla ice cream!

Instant Macaroni and Cheese

This recipe has three ingredients: water, noodles and cheese. As if that's not simple enough, all you do is stick it in the microwave for eight minutes and enjoy.

Avocado Egg Toast

This is the perfect breakfast or snack on the go. The protein in the egg keeps you going, and the avocado adds some delicious flavor.

Toasted Nuts

It sounds crazy to toast nuts in the microwave, but this is a great alternative to using an oven. Nuts are an easy, protein-packed snack during the day.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake

Peanut butter and chocolate, what else could you possibly need? Mug cakes are super simple to make and the perfect dessert for your sugar cravings.

Potato Soup

I love soup for cold, rainy days. Potato soup is perhaps my favorite soup ever, but it can be time consuming to cook. The idea of making it for one person in less than 10 minutes sounds perfect to me.

Spiced Pumpkin Molten Cake

Fall is just around the corner, and I don't know about you, but I am going to be wanting some seasonal desserts soon. Get your fall on with this pumpkin cake in a mug.

Baked Potato

Baked potatoes are great because you can top it with any ingredients that you want. Bacon, cheese, sour crème, butter or onion, the possibilities are endless.

Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla

You can put so much on a tortilla, and one of my all-time favorite tortilla combinations is cinnamon and sugar. I make this when I need a quick snack or a simple dessert.
