Strategic Plan 2008-2009

 

Goal # 1

Conduct at least two events sponsored by business student organizations that interact with regional business professionals.

 

Objective(s)

  • Establish two events sponsored by business student organizations where regional business professionals interact with COB students.
  • Have at least 5 potential employers speak with and interface with the various COB student organizations.

Measures

Process is established and executed as stated.

Goal # 2

Utilize state-of-the-art technology to provide distance delivery of our programs that maintain rich opportunities for student interaction with professors and classmates.

 

Objective(s)

  • Have the COB Curriculum Committee study and decide whether the MBA hybrid delivery model should be integrated in the BBA and BS programs.
  • If the COB Curriculum Committee decides the concept has merit, the COB Curriculum Committee in concert with the COB faculty will decide which courses to test the concept.
  • The Assistant Dean, in concert with COB faculty, will evaluate at least one new technology for improved delivery of distance education programs.
  • If a practical/feasible delivery method is determined, present recommendation to VPAA.

Measures

  • The COB Curriculum Committee conducts the study and makes recommendations by the end of Fall 08.
  • If the COB Curriculum Committee decides the concept has merit, the COB Curriculum Committee in concert with the COB faculty decides by the end of Spring 09 for implementation during Fall 09, the courses for which the hybrid approach will be tested.
  • If a practical/feasible delivery method is determined, present recommendation to COB Dean by end of Fall 08.
  • If a practical/feasible delivery method is determined, present recommendation to VPAA by end of Spring 09.

Goal # 3
Be acknowledged as an effective team player with our transfer partner colleges in the region.

 

Objective(s)

  • Conduct an interaction session with COB’s service area educational institutions.
  • Attend and participate in semi-annual New Mexico Business Articulation meetings.
  • The COB Curriculum Committee will ensure that COB faculty have copies of the updated articulation matrix and receive training on same.

Measures

  • Conduct sessions.
  • Attendance and participation in the semi-annual meetings.
  • The COB Curriculum Committee provides matrices and appropriate training.

Goal # 4

Be recognized by the regional business community as a valuable resource

 

Objective(s)

  • Produce two informative semi-annual COB newsletters and distribute to students, alumni and regional business professionals.
  • The Assistant Dean will create a COB “speakers’ bureau.”
  • Implement recommendations by ACBSP.

Measures

  • Completion of newsletters by August 1 and February 1, respectively.
  • Completion of the “speakers’ bureau” by December 31, 2008.
  • The recommendations will be implemented by March 31, 2009.

Goal # 5

Promote faculty participation in the governance of the College and the University by following agreed upon policies and procedures.

 

Objective(s)

  •  Establish an ad-hoc committee of COB faculty members to create a revised COB Faculty Manual by end of Fall 08.

Measures

  • Manual created and approved by COB faculty before the end of Fall 08.

Goal # 6

Continue to grow our undergraduate and graduate programs.

 

Objective(s)

  • The COB Graduate Committee creates an MBA marketing plan.
  • The implementation of the marketing plan commences by May 31, 2009.
  • The Assistant Dean in concert with the undergraduate COB faculty creates a BBA marketing plan.
  • The implementation of the marketing plan commences by May 31, 2009.
  • The Assistant Dean in concert with the IS faculty creates a BS marketing plan.
  • The implementation of the marketing plan commences by May 31, 2009.

Measures

  • Marketing plans approved by March 1, 2009.
  • Implementation of the plans to occur by May 31, 2009.
