Information Systems

As technology and the Internet continue to expand, the demand for professionals in computer-related fields continues to increase. A degree in IS prepares graduates for careers as a business systems analyst, database administrator, database architect, network analyst, systems analyst, Web designer and chief information officer.

IS majors choose an area of concentration:

  • Software applications
  • Internet applications
  • Networking applications

Information Systems is a combination of web development, hands-on training with CISCO routers and switches, systems development, and programming. Implementation of these areas allows for a more intelligible student as they grasp all concepts within this field of study. Classes relate to areas of certification, i.e. Windows Server 2003, which many corporations require and look for on a resume.

I have kept in touch with many of my high school friends. Some have gone off to private or D1 universities or colleges. I feel I am better prepared for the real-world than most of my friends. As my college years wind down, I am deeply considering owning and operating my own business, until then I will pursue a career at BNSF Railway.
