Mission / Vision / Goals Statement

Mission:

The College of Business of Eastern New Mexico University provides quality, student focused business education preparing individuals for professional careers, graduate studies and life long learning. We actively engage in business collaboration throughout the region.

We operate through an open and accessible governance structure which promotes ongoing self-evaluation and continuous improvement.

Vision:

Our vision is to:

  • supply a curriculum responsive to needs of the marketplace;
  • provide distance learning through leading edge technology;
  • recruit and retain a diverse faculty and student body;
  • further quality education and business collaboration through scholarly activities;
  • meet or exceed our professional accreditation standards;
  • furnish consulting, community service, training, and research to the region;
  • operate through an open and accessible governance structure.

Long-Term Goals:

Our long term goals are the following:

  1. Be known among business professionals in the New Mexico and West Texas region as a high-quality program that produces very capable graduates.
  2. Utilize state-of-the-art technology to provide distance delivery of our programs that maintain rich opportunities for student interaction with professors and classmates.
  3. Be acknowledged as an effective team player with our transfer partner colleges in the region.
  4. Be recognized by the regional business community as a valuable resource.Promote faculty participation in the governance of the college and the university by following agreed
  5. upon policies and procedures.
  6. Continue to grow our undergraduate and graduate programs.

Operational Goals:

We will begin to realize success in our long-term goals by achieving the following operational goals during the next one to two years:

A. 1  Conduct at least two events sponsored by business student organization that Interact with
        regional business professionals.
A. 2  Schedule at least five employer recruitment activities during the academic year.

A. 3  Satisfy our ACBSP notes and conditions.

B. 1  Expand the use of the MBA hybrid delivery model within the BBA and BS programs.

B. 2  Evaluate at least one new technology for improved delivery of distance education programs.

C. 1  Schedule at least one interaction per semester between the COB administration, or faculty, and
        each of our service area educational institutions.

C. 2  Continue active participation within the New Mexico Business Articulation process.

D. 1  Produce semi-annually the COB Newsletter, and distribute it to our students, alumni, and
        regional business professionals.

D. 2  Create a COB “speakers bureau” for public distribution (i.e. a list of faculty expertise).

E. 1  Adopt a revised COB Faculty Manual by the end of the fall semester.

F. 1  Create a marketing plan for the MBA program.

F. 2  Create a marketing plan for BBA program.

F. 3  Create a marketing plan for the BS program.

Link to University Mission:

The COB mission links to the University mission in several ways. The COB mission focuses on innovative education using a variety of instructional technology tools (ITV, videoconferencing, Internet) to design and deliver BBA courses to a geographically dispersed student population. Additionally, the COB prepares individuals for professional careers through a common body of knowledge for all undergraduate business students. These courses engage students in applying theoretical concepts through multiple active learning activities.

Link to Graduate School Mission:

The MBA is designed for individuals, currently employed, seeking to enhance their professional development. The MBA curriculum requires the student to develop the ability to research the scholarly business literature for concepts they may apply to specific organizational problems.
